A recruiter cover letter, read by the kind of tool a recruiter usually operates

One in-house recruiter cover letter, printed exactly as the builder wrote it. The recruiter and the employer are invented. The selection and the three gaps came out of the product.

— forty-eight days to twenty-nine. every hiring manager knows what that costs.

The Conxfolio cover letter builder on step 02 Details, opened by this page's own door, with the role Recruiter, the company Marrowgate Talent, the posting and the four evidence groups loaded
The Details step exactly as the door left it: Recruiter at Marrowgate Talent, the posting, and 17 evidence lines across profile, experience, achievements and skills, each one removable. No letter and no application record exists at this point.

There is a particular pleasure in running a recruiter's application through a selection engine. Anouk Delacroix-Sterne is invented, Marrowgate Talent is invented, and so are both of her employers. The letter is real output: the evidence below was handed to the cover letter builder and the reply is printed word for word.

The brief, and the evidence the letter may use

An invented person. Not a real document, and not yours.

The role
Recruiter · Marrowgate Talent

The posting
Marrowgate Talent is hiring an in-house recruiter for engineering and commercial roles. The work covers talent sourcing, screening and interviewing, employer branding on our careers site, offer and contract negotiation, and handover to onboarding. You will own time to hire across 30 open roles.

What the letter may claim

  • Delivered 74 hires in two years across engineering, sales and finance.
  • Reduced time to hire from 48 days to 29 across 30 open roles.
  • Ran talent sourcing that produced 41% of hires without an agency fee.
  • Led interviewing panels for 180 candidates and wrote the structured scorecard they use.
  • Improved offer acceptance from 71% to 88% by rewriting how offers are delivered.

The letter the builder wrote

Direct voice, the one the door opens with. Three of the eight paragraphs are Anouk's own sentences.

Dear Marrowgate Talent Hiring Team,

I'm applying for the Recruiter role at Marrowgate Talent.

Ran talent sourcing that produced 41% of hires without an agency fee.

Led interviewing panels for 180 candidates and wrote the structured scorecard they use.

Delivered 74 hires in two years across engineering, sales and finance.

The posting asks for Talent Sourcing and Interviewing — all of which I've worked with directly.

I'd welcome the chance to talk through any of this.

Anouk Delacroix-Sterne

Where each paragraph came from

Lines 7, 8 and 5 of the evidence list. The sourcing line and the interviewing line each matched a requirement the posting names. The hires line went in on its figures. The time to hire line, which is the number every hiring manager actually cares about, did not make it at all: it answers a phrase the matcher does not hold as a skill, so it was ranked on figures and came fourth.

That is a useful thing for a recruiter to see from the other side. A ranking is a first pass, not a judgment, and the sentence a human would lead with can sit below the fold. On the Details step you can remove a line to let a better one through before anything is written. Tailoring a letter to the posting is the same job done by hand.

What it refused to claim

Three gaps: contract negotiation, employer branding and onboarding. All three are named in the posting and none appears in Anouk's lines. Offer acceptance rewritten from 71 to 88 per cent is next door to contract negotiation and the engine will not move it there, which is the right call: a hiring manager would ask the difference within a minute. The gaps list is the interview, and three items is three prepared answers.

No language model is involved. Selection is deterministic code over her own lines, and the reply says so in its own payload.

What a recruiter's letter has to prove

Fill rate, speed and cost. Fill rate is hires delivered against roles owned. Speed is time to hire with the before and after. Cost is the share of hires sourced without an agency fee, which is the single most persuasive number an in-house recruiter can write.

The scorecard line matters more than it looks. A recruiter who leaves a structured process behind them is one a head of talent can promote. What a recruiter looks for first is worth reading from the other chair.

The same evidence in the other two voices

Three voices ship with the builder, and changing one rewrites the connectors rather than the evidence. The ranking never sees the voice, so the same lines are selected in the same order in all three. Run on this page's own evidence, the warm voice opens "I'd like to be considered for the Recruiter role at Marrowgate Talent." and closes "I'd be glad to walk through any of this with you." The formal voice opens "I am writing to apply for the position of Recruiter at Marrowgate Talent." and closes "I would welcome the opportunity to discuss my application further." The middle connector changes with it: warm writes "You mention Talent Sourcing and Interviewing; those have been the centre of my recent work." and formal writes "The role calls for Talent Sourcing and Interviewing, each of which I have applied in practice." In the product, switching voice keeps the draft you already have as a version before it writes the new one, so nothing is lost by trying the other two.

The design, and what the door does

The same Details step on a 390 pixel phone screen, showing the role, the company and the posting loaded from the example
The same door on a phone. The role, the company and the posting arrive filled in, and the evidence groups sit below them.

Signal carries a confident accent rail, which suits an application that will be opened on a phone. The paper changes and the words do not, across all 12 designs in the gallery.

The door below opens 02 · Details with the role, the employer, the posting and the four evidence groups loaded and removable. Nothing is composed until you press Write the letter. Put your own hiring figures in, paste the real advertisement, and the same ranking runs on your lines. The matching recruiter résumé example holds the document those lines come from.

Questions

Is Anouk Delacroix-Sterne a real person
No. She is invented for this page, and so are Marrowgate Talent, Havenlock Systems and Pellow & Brand. No real hiring process is described and no hire is claimed.
Did the product really write this letter
Yes. The evidence list was posted to the same endpoint the Write the letter button posts to, and the reply is printed above unchanged. The engine reported three selected paragraphs, two matched requirements and three gaps.
Why is onboarding a gap when the posting only mentions a handover
Because the word appears in the posting and nowhere in the evidence. A gap is a requirement the document cannot support, and the engine does not weigh how central the requirement looked. Reading the list with that in mind is part of using it.
Why is contract negotiation a gap when she improved offer acceptance
Offer acceptance is not contract negotiation, and the engine will not treat one as the other. Her line about rewriting how offers are delivered is close and it is not the same claim, which is precisely the distinction a hiring manager would probe.
What does “Use this example” do
It opens the cover letter builder on 02 · Details with the role, the employer, the posting and the four evidence groups already loaded. No letter and no application record exists until you press Write the letter.
Which design is this example in
Signal, a confident accent rail down the page. Any of the 12 designs carries the same words.
