A marketing manager cover letter, with the channel numbers it was built from

One marketing manager cover letter, printed exactly as the builder wrote it. The manager and the brand are invented. The selection and the gap came out of the product.

— cost per acquisition beats every adjective.

The Conxfolio cover letter builder on step 02 Details, opened by this page's own door, with the role Marketing Manager, the company Ferrowick Home, the posting and the four evidence groups loaded
The Details step exactly as the door left it: Marketing Manager at Ferrowick Home, the posting, and 17 evidence lines across profile, experience, achievements and skills, each one removable. No letter and no application record exists at this point.

Marketing applications are full of adjectives and short of arithmetic. This page runs the opposite experiment. Thea Ballantyne-Osei is invented, Ferrowick Home is invented, and so are both of her employers. The letter is real: the evidence below was handed to the cover letter builder and the reply is printed word for word.

The role, and the evidence the letter may use

An invented person. Not a real document, and not yours.

The role
Marketing Manager · Ferrowick Home

The posting
Ferrowick Home is looking for a marketing manager to own acquisition across search, email and paid social. You will work with SEO, Google Analytics, HubSpot and content marketing, manage an agency and report on cost per acquisition to the board. Experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud and with retail media is useful.

What the letter may claim

  • Grew organic search traffic by 74% in 18 months with a content programme of 90 articles.
  • Reduced cost per acquisition on paid social from 41 to 24 euro across two quarters.
  • Managed an agency relationship worth 320 000 euro a year and renegotiated the retainer down 15%.
  • Built the email programme to 118 000 subscribers and a 31% open rate.
  • Introduced weekly reporting in Google Analytics that the board now reads instead of the agency deck.

The letter the builder wrote

Direct voice, the one the door opens with. Three of the eight paragraphs are Thea's own sentences.

Dear Ferrowick Home Hiring Team,

I'm applying for the Marketing Manager role at Ferrowick Home.

Reduced cost per acquisition on paid social from 41 to 24 euro across two quarters.

Introduced weekly reporting in Google Analytics that the board now reads instead of the agency deck.

Grew organic search traffic by 74% in 18 months with a content programme of 90 articles.

The posting asks for Paid Media and Google Analytics — all of which I've worked with directly.

I'd welcome the chance to talk through any of this.

Thea Ballantyne-Osei

Where each paragraph came from

Lines 6, 9 and 5 of the evidence list. The cost per acquisition line went first because it answers a requirement the posting names and carries two figures. The Google Analytics line matched a named tool. The organic search line, which any marketer would put at the top, went third: the posting asks for SEO and the sentence says "organic search traffic", so the engine scored it on its figures rather than on a term match.

That is a fair thing to know about any matcher. Writing the word the posting uses is not keyword stuffing when the word is true of your work. Keywords on a document covers where that line sits.

What it refused to claim

One gap: Salesforce. The posting mentions Salesforce Marketing Cloud and nothing in the evidence supports it, so the letter is silent about it and the gap is printed beside the draft. Thea uses HubSpot, and the engine does not offer HubSpot as near enough. Retail media, also named in the posting, did not appear as a gap at all, because the matcher does not carry it as a skill. The gaps list reports what it can see, which is worth knowing before you treat it as complete.

There is no language model behind any of this. Selection is deterministic code over the lines supplied, and the reply says so in its own payload. The reason a letter claims only what the document shows is the design, rather than a limitation.

What a marketing letter has to prove

That you can be held to a number. Channel, direction, size, period: cost per acquisition from 41 to 24 across two quarters is all four in nine words. A board hires on that sentence and interviews on the reasoning behind it.

The second thing is the money you have held. An agency worth 320 000 euro a year and a retainer renegotiated down 15% describes a level of trust that no adjective conveys. It did not make this letter because the posting asks about acquisition rather than about supplier management, and it stays in the evidence list for the application where it does. Reading your own gaps list is the habit that makes the second application faster.

The same evidence in the other two voices

Three voices ship with the builder, and changing one rewrites the connectors rather than the evidence. The ranking never sees the voice, so the same lines are selected in the same order in all three. Run on this page's own evidence, the warm voice opens "I'd like to be considered for the Marketing Manager role at Ferrowick Home." and closes "I'd be glad to walk through any of this with you." The formal voice opens "I am writing to apply for the position of Marketing Manager at Ferrowick Home." and closes "I would welcome the opportunity to discuss my application further." The middle connector changes with it: warm writes "You mention Paid Media and Google Analytics; those have been the centre of my recent work." and formal writes "The role calls for Paid Media and Google Analytics, each of which I have applied in practice." In the product, switching voice keeps the draft you already have as a version before it writes the new one, so nothing is lost by trying the other two.

The design, and what the door does

The same Details step on a 390 pixel phone screen, showing the role, the company and the posting loaded from the example
The same door on a phone. The role, the company and the posting arrive filled in, and the evidence groups sit below them.

Band puts a high-contrast masthead across the top, which suits a consumer brand application. The paper changes and the words do not, across all 12 designs in the gallery.

The door below opens 02 · Details with the role, the company, the posting and the four evidence groups loaded and removable. Nothing is composed until you press Write the letter. Put your own channels and your own numbers in, paste the real posting, and the same ranking runs against it. The matching marketing manager résumé example holds the document those lines come from.

Questions

Is Thea Ballantyne-Osei a real person
No. She is invented for this page, and so are Ferrowick Home, Quillon Goods and Amberhurst Trading. Every figure was written to give the engine something to rank. Nobody applied with this letter.
Did the product really write this letter
Yes. The evidence list on this page was posted to the same endpoint the Write the letter button posts to, and the reply is printed above unchanged. The engine reported three selected paragraphs, two matched requirements and one gap.
Why is Salesforce the only gap
Because it is the only requirement in the posting that the engine recognised as a skill and could not find anywhere in the evidence. Retail media is named in the posting too, and the matcher does not hold it as a skill, so it never became a gap. A gap list is as good as the vocabulary behind it.
What does “Use this example” do
It opens the cover letter builder on 02 · Details with the role, the company, the posting and the four evidence groups already loaded. No letter and no application record exists until you press Write the letter.
Should a marketing letter carry percentages
Carry the ones you can defend in a meeting. A 74% traffic rise over 18 months invites a question about the baseline, and a good answer to that question is most of an interview. A figure you cannot explain is worse than no figure.
Which design is this example in
Band, a high-contrast masthead across the top. Any of the 12 designs carries the same words, and the gallery shows each one as a whole letter.

Conxfolio is a free set of four career tools: a résumé builder with 37 rendered layouts, an ATS résumé checker that prints its own arithmetic, a cover letter builder that traces every proof paragraph back to the line it came from, and a portfolio builder with 20 authored designs. There is no account to create, nothing is held back for a paid plan, and no language model is used anywhere in the product, so the readers, the score and the letter are deterministic code you can check.
