A research assistant résumé example, with recruitment and retention on it

One complete research assistant résumé, written out in full. The person is invented. The reading and the score come from the product itself.

— recruited, retained, cleaned. then the papers.

Research assistants are hired on whether a study will actually run, and most pages for the job describe methods rather than delivery. This example is written out in full so you can read a delivery-shaped one, then put through the tools here so you can see what a parser stores. The candidate is invented. Leontine Barrowfield-Nakamura does not exist, neither institute exists, and every figure was chosen to demonstrate a shape.

Recruitment and retention lead

Three hundred and forty participants across six sites, with 92% retention at twelve months. Any principal investigator reading that line knows what it cost, because recruitment is where studies fail and retention is where they fail more quietly.

The data lines follow: 18 000 records collected and cleaned, and a data dictionary now used by nine researchers. Writing something other people use is the strongest evidence available at this career stage, and it takes one line.

Ethics and screening are real work

Four ethics amendments and two annual reports. Twelve hundred abstracts screened with data extracted from ninety papers. Forty participant interviews coded into seven themes. Those are the tasks that consume a research assistant's year, and they are countable.

The thesis sits in its own projects section rather than inside experience, because it was independent work rather than employment. Five years of survey data across 3 400 households, presented to two municipal teams, is a research career starting.

What the reading found

The door on this page hands the document to the résumé builder as plain text, through the same import an uploaded file goes through, and the review shows each field beside the line it came from. Here the completeness pass found four readable sections, 99 words of experience evidence and ten distinct skills, with the projects kept separate and three languages in their own section.

The Conxfolio import review after the door opened, showing Leontine Barrowfield-Nakamura's example read into fields beside the rendered page, with the line saying it is an example
The real import review, opened by this page's own door. It names Leontine Barrowfield-Nakamura as invented before anything is saved, and it shows every field beside the line it came from.

No language model is involved. Every string a reader emits is checked in code to be a span of your document, and where the rules are unsure they ask instead of merging a project into a job.

What the checker scored it

The same import review on a 390 pixel phone screen, with the example notice above the accept button
The same door on a phone. Nothing is withheld on the small screen: the notice, the reading and the accept button are all there.

Ninety-seven out of 100, with one improvement remaining worth 8 points. The arithmetic is 100 × 30% + 100 × 30% + 92 × 40% = 97, explained in the article on the score. Six evidence lines counted in experience, five read as action-led, two carrying measurable evidence, and 201 readable words against a band opening at 250.

The project lines are not counted as experience evidence, which is correct and worth knowing: the depth rule reads experience achievements. A page that leans entirely on projects will see that in the counts. The ATS checker prints them rather than summarising them into a colour.

What this example leaves off

No participant information, no unpublished results and no full publication list. A principal investigator reads restraint about unpublished data as basic research conduct, and a publication list belongs on an academic curriculum vitae rather than on a two-page résumé.

Conference attendance is left off as well. Attending is not evidence; presenting is, and the example says how many posters at how many conferences rather than listing the events.

What to change for your own

Change the field. Laboratory science, social research, clinical trials and humanities research all use this shape with different units and different ethics regimes. Then put in your own recruitment, retention, dataset sizes and outputs.

Keep the thesis as a project while it is still your largest independent piece of work; the guide on coursework covers when to drop it. The design gallery holds 37 layouts, and the student example, the librarian example and the bookkeeper example sit beside this one.

Questions

Is Leontine Barrowfield-Nakamura a real researcher
No. She is invented for this page, and so are Norreport Institute of Public Health and Vesterbro Health Studies Unit. The figures show a shape and no study described here exists.
What matters most on a research assistant's page
Recruitment and retention. Three hundred and forty participants across six sites with 92% retention at twelve months is the number a principal investigator worries about most and the hardest one to achieve.
Should publications be listed separately
On a short academic page a line inside the role is enough. Three papers co-authored and two posters presented is proportionate; a full publication list belongs on a curriculum vitae.
What did the checker score it
97 out of 100, with one improvement remaining worth 8 points. The document has 201 readable words, and the volume rule's top band opens at 250.
Is a thesis worth keeping after two jobs
As a project with two lines, yes. It is where independent method was proved, and the builder keeps a projects section separate from experience for exactly this.
Which design is this rendered in
Signal, one of the 37 layouts and not one of the 21 marked ATS-safe. University portals vary; run your own document through the checker rather than guessing.

Conxfolio is a free set of four career tools: a résumé builder with 37 rendered layouts, an ATS résumé checker that prints its own arithmetic, a cover letter builder that traces every proof paragraph back to the line it came from, and a portfolio builder with 20 authored designs. There is no account to create, nothing is held back for a paid plan, and no language model is used anywhere in the product, so the readers, the score and the letter are deterministic code you can check.
