A personal trainer résumé example, with retention as the headline

One complete personal trainer résumé, written out in full. The person is invented. The reading and the score come from the product itself.

— anyone can fill a diary once. keeping it full is the trade.

The personal trainer example résumé drawn as a complete page in the Editorial design: name, summary, the roles with their bullet lines, education and a skills row

Personal training résumés are usually a certificate list and a sentence about passion, which tells a gym manager nothing they can act on. This example is written out in full so you can read a commercial version, then put through the tools here so you can see what a parser stores. The candidate is invented. Lorcan Vasquez-Etheridge does not exist, the gym does not exist, and every figure was chosen to demonstrate a shape.

Retention is the headline

Thirty-four regular clients, forty-five sessions a week, and twelve-month retention at 68%. The third of those is the one that matters, because filling a diary once is a marketing problem and keeping it full is the trade.

The example deliberately does not compare that figure to an industry average, because a number quoted without a source is worth nothing. If you have a figure from your own gym's reporting, say whose figure it is.

The gym role is the commercial evidence

Six hundred members inducted with first programmes written. Personal training hours sold by the club up 38% in eighteen months. Eight classes a week for up to 24 participants. A gym manager reading those knows this trainer generates revenue for the building as well as for themselves.

Two hundred progress reviews a year with measured strength and movement tests is the professional line. It describes a practice with a method rather than a series of sessions.

What the reading found

The door on this page hands the document to the résumé builder as plain text, through the same import an uploaded file goes through, and the review shows each field beside the line it came from. Here the completeness pass found four readable sections, 101 words of experience evidence and ten distinct skills, with both certifications kept with their years.

The Conxfolio import review after the door opened, showing Lorcan Vasquez-Etheridge's example read into fields beside the rendered page, with the line saying it is an example
The real import review, opened by this page's own door. It names Lorcan Vasquez-Etheridge as invented before anything is saved, and it shows every field beside the line it came from.

Nothing in that reading uses a language model. Every string a reader emits is checked in code to be a span of the document it read.

What the checker scored it

The same import review on a 390 pixel phone screen, with the example notice above the accept button
The same door on a phone. Nothing is withheld on the small screen: the notice, the reading and the accept button are all there.

Ninety-seven out of 100, with one improvement remaining worth 8 points. The arithmetic is 100 × 30% + 100 × 30% + 92 × 40% = 97, explained in the article on the score. Seven action-led lines, five of them measurable, seven lines of depth, and 185 readable words against a band opening at 250.

Self-employment is listed as a role with dates, which is what lets the completeness rule find experience at all. A page that hides freelance work inside a summary sentence can lose the whole experience block; the guide on freelance work covers the formatting, and the ATS checker will tell you if your own page has that problem.

What this example leaves off

No client photographs, no before and after images and no testimonials. Those belong to the client, they cannot be verified on a page, and a professional reader treats a page built on them as a marketing document rather than an application.

Nutrition claims outside the scope of the qualification are left off as well. The skills row says nutrition guidance within scope on purpose, because a trainer who overstates that on a résumé is a liability a gym has to manage.

What to change for your own

Change the practice. Studio, gym floor, online coaching, sports conditioning and rehabilitation-adjacent work all use this shape with different measures. Then put in your own client count, session volume, retention and any revenue you generated for a club.

Keep the registration and first aid with their years. Keep claims inside your scope of practice. The design gallery holds 37 layouts, and the physiotherapist example, the early years example and the barista example sit beside this one.

Questions

Is Lorcan Vasquez-Etheridge a real trainer
No. He is invented for this page, and so is Ponsonby Ridge Fitness. The figures show a shape and describe nobody's practice.
How should self-employment be written
As a role with a client count and a session volume. Thirty-four regular clients and forty-five sessions a week is a business, and a gym hiring you wants to know whether you can fill a diary.
Why does retention matter more than results
Because client results belong to the client and retention belongs to the trainer. Sixty-eight per cent at twelve months is a claim about your practice that a gym manager can act on.
What did the checker score it
97 out of 100, with one improvement remaining worth 8 points. The document has 185 readable words, and the volume rule's top band opens at 250.
Should transformation results be listed
Not as client before and after figures. They are the client's, they are unverifiable on a page, and a professional reader discounts them. Progress reviews with measured tests is the version that holds up.
Which design is this rendered in
Editorial, one of the 37 layouts and not one of the 21 marked ATS-safe. A gym manager reads the page directly; a large chain's application portal is the case for an ATS-safe layout.

Conxfolio is a free set of four career tools: a résumé builder with 37 rendered layouts, an ATS résumé checker that prints its own arithmetic, a cover letter builder that traces every proof paragraph back to the line it came from, and a portfolio builder with 20 authored designs. There is no account to create, nothing is held back for a paid plan, and no language model is used anywhere in the product, so the readers, the score and the letter are deterministic code you can check.
