A free early years cover letter, and the skill it matched wrongly until the word was gated

This page carried the one letter in this set with something wrong in it, and the mistake was worth more than another clean example. Esperanza Kittlewood is invented, Brightmarsh Nursery is invented, and so are both of her settings.

214 words in the direct voice. 8 of its 13 sentences quote a numbered line of Esperanza's evidence; the rest are the builder's own connecting sentences.

It opens Dear Carmen Belloch rather than Dear Brightmarsh Nursery Hiring Team because a contact name was typed into Details & drafting before the letter was written. Leave that field empty and the salutation addresses the hiring team instead.

The wrong word that used to be in the fit sentence

On 12 September the fit sentence read "The posting asks for Vital Signs, Safeguarding and Parent Communication". Vital signs. Nobody in this letter has taken a blood pressure. The matcher held "observations" as one of the surface forms of the clinical skill Vital Signs, and in early years an observation is a written record of a child's development, so the line about 320 observations a year was read as clinical work and the term was printed in a nursery practitioner's letter. This page showed it rather than hiding it.

It was fixed on 13 September. An ordinary English word that is also a surface form of a skill now counts only when a word of that skill's own trade stands near it, in the line or in the document the line came from. This posting and this evidence carry no clinical word at all, so "observations" no longer claims vital signs, and the fit sentence above names the key person approach instead. The argument survives the fix: read a draft before you send it. Every paragraph is editable, and a line can be removed on Details & drafting before anything is written.

What it refused to claim

Two gaps came back: basic life support and recruitment. The room requires basic life support and the evidence never mentions it. Every practitioner in a two to three room holds it, and the engine still will not write the sentence.

That refusal and the wrong match it made on 12 September are the same machine: it reports what its vocabulary lets it see, and it never invents a claim her lines do not carry. A vocabulary can be wrong, and this page is the record of one being corrected.

What an early years letter has to prove

Ratio, records and relationships. Ratio is the key person group and the room size. Records are the observations and the safeguarding entries, because a manager under inspection is hiring paperwork as much as warmth. Relationships are the handover note, which is the sentence parents actually judge a nursery by. Name safeguarding and first aid training explicitly: on this evidence the missing line became one of the two gaps.
