Shop work produces figures all day long and describes itself in duties. The gap between those two facts is where most retail résumés lose their argument.

Retail is one of the few jobs where the numbers are collected for you all day. Transactions, footfall, shrinkage, conversion, average basket, hours covered, stock lines managed. Then the résumé says responsible for customer service and cash handling, which is a job description rather than a record.
