Build a résumé, or bring the one you already have.
A free résumé builder that reads your existing résumé into editable sections, shows you everything it found before the editor opens, and renders the page you are actually going to send.
Importing is the fast way in. Upload a PDF, Word file or scan, or paste the text, and the review shows what was read: your details, each role, each degree and your skills. Move an entry to projects, merge two, remove one or take a skill out before anything enters the editor. Nothing is written for you, and a field that could not be read stays empty rather than being filled with a guess.
Then the page. There are 37 designs, 24 of them marked ATS-safe, each rendered by the same engine that renders your finished résumé, so the design you pick is the page you download. Change the design, the typography and colour, or which sections show, and the preview updates as you type.
A résumé is rarely sent once. Keep one master résumé, duplicate it for a particular job, save versions and return to an earlier one. The ATS checker and the cover letter builder read this same résumé, so a fix made here is a fix everywhere.
How the free résumé builder works
- Start from scratch or import — Choose Start from scratch, or Use an existing résumé to upload a PDF, Word file or scan, or paste the text.
- Check what was read — The review lists your details, roles, degrees and skills. Move, merge or remove entries, then press Confirm & open editor.
- Edit and choose a design — Work through Personal details, Summary, Experience, Education, Skills and Projects. The Design tab holds 37 designs, 24 marked ATS-safe. /resume-designs
- Download PDF or Word — Press Download and choose PDF (ready to share) or DOCX (keep editing elsewhere). Both are free, with no watermark.
The builder does not invent work history. Every line on the page is one you wrote or imported, and an empty field stays empty.

Questions
- Is this résumé builder really free, with no sign up?
- Yes. There is no account, no login and no payment. You build, edit and download without giving an email address.
- Can I download my résumé as PDF and Word?
- Yes. The Download menu offers PDF and DOCX. Both are free and neither carries a watermark.
- Which files can I import?
- PDF, Word (.docx and older .doc), OpenDocument (.odt), plain text, Markdown and RTF, and images of a résumé such as a scan or a photo. A password-protected PDF is unlocked in this browser after you type the password.
- Are the résumé templates ATS-friendly?
- 24 of the 37 designs are marked ATS-safe: single column, with the text still readable when it is pulled back out of the exported PDF. You can run the free ATS résumé checker on your own export to see what it reads.
- Can I keep more than one résumé?
- Yes. Duplicate a résumé for a particular job, save versions and restore an earlier one from the document menu or your workspace.
- Can I change the design after writing?
- Yes. The 37 designs are a rendering choice, not a rewrite: your words do not change when the design does.
- Will my imported résumé be changed without me seeing it?
- No. The import review shows what was read before anything enters the editor, and you correct it there.
- Where is my résumé stored?
- Your work is kept in this browser. A file you import is read here first, and only the text it contains is sent to be sorted into fields — if this browser cannot read the file, the file itself is sent instead. The text of a résumé or a letter is sent to our server when you run the ATS check, ask for a draft, or export a PDF.
