An architect résumé example, beside the portfolio that decides

One complete architect résumé, written out in full. The person is invented. The reading and the score come from the product itself.

— consents won, drawings issued, details that stopped a query.

An architect's résumé is the least important document in an architect's application and the one that decides whether the rest is read. This example is written out in full so you can see what belongs on it, then put through the tools here so you can see what a parser takes from it. The candidate is invented. Solveig Marchetti-Dunbar does not exist, neither practice exists, and every figure was chosen to demonstrate a shape.

Consents, packages, details

Five housing schemes totalling 340 apartments from concept to completion. Consent on seven of eight applications, two at committee. Technical packages of 260 drawings with six consultants coordinated. Construction queries down 29% after the standard detail set was rebuilt.

Those four lines describe an architect who takes a project the whole way. Concept work is what portfolios show; consents, packages and site queries are what a practice is hiring a project architect to survive.

The detail set line is the one to copy

Rebuilding the standard detail set and measuring the drop in site queries is the rare case where an architectural contribution has a number on it. Most technical improvements in a practice are invisible, and a candidate who has measured one is making an argument nobody else in the pile is making.

The portfolio address sits in the contact row as plain text, which is the only form that survives extraction. The guide on linking a portfolio covers the placement, and the portfolio builder here will make a page from the same material if you want one.

What the reading found

The door on this page hands the document to the résumé builder as plain text, through the same import an uploaded file goes through, and the review shows each field beside the line it came from. Here the completeness pass found four readable sections, 89 words of experience evidence and ten distinct skills, with registration kept as a certification and the portfolio address kept in the contact row.

The real import review, opened by this page's own door. It names Solveig Marchetti-Dunbar as invented before anything is saved, and it shows every field beside the line it came from.

No language model is involved. Every string a reader emits is checked in code to be a span of your document, so a scheme cannot be renamed and a consent cannot be rounded up.

What the checker scored it

The same door on a phone. Nothing is withheld on the small screen: the notice, the reading and the accept button are all there.

Ninety-seven out of 100, with one improvement remaining worth 8 points. The arithmetic is 100 × 30% + 100 × 30% + 92 × 40% = 97, explained in the article on the score. Seven action-led lines, two of them measurable, seven lines of depth, and 169 readable words against a band opening at 250.

This is the shortest page in this batch and it is rendered in Galley, a design not marked ATS-safe. The score is measured on the document's text, not on the exported Galley page, so it is evidence about the writing and not about the layout. The mark warns about columns, tables and decorative characters, and the honest test is to export the PDF and run the export through the ATS checker. For a large practice with an application portal, use one of the 21 ATS-safe layouts anyway and let the portfolio carry the argument.

What this example leaves off

No project images, no plan extracts and no sketches. Every one of those belongs in the portfolio, where they can be seen at the right size, and none of them survives extraction as information.

Competition entries that went nowhere are left off too, and so are unbuilt schemes presented as though they were built. A practice will ask which of your projects were completed, and a page that blurs the difference is a page that has to be explained.

What to change for your own

Change the sector and the stage. Conservation, commercial, healthcare and interiors all use this shape and weight the stages differently. Then put in your own unit counts, areas, consent records, drawing volumes and consultant coordination.

Keep registration with its year. Keep the portfolio address readable. The design gallery holds 37 layouts, and the UX designer example, the construction manager example and the head chef example show the same structure in neighbouring work.

Questions

Is Solveig Marchetti-Dunbar a real architect
No. She is invented for this page, and so are Hollergrund Architekten and Steinbruch Studio. The figures show a shape and describe nobody.
Does an architect need a résumé at all
The portfolio decides the hire and the résumé decides whether the portfolio is opened. The example keeps the portfolio address in the contact row as plain text so a parser can store it.
What is the strongest line on an architect's page
Consent record. Seven approvals from eight applications, two of them at committee, is a measurable statement about how this architect handles planning, which is most of the risk in a project.
What did the checker score it
97 out of 100, with one improvement remaining worth 8 points. The document has 169 readable words, and the volume rule's top band opens at 250. Architecture résumés are short because the portfolio carries the work.
Should competitions be listed
As a record rather than a list. Two wins from five entries as project lead is honest and countable, and it says more than naming five competitions.
Which design is this rendered in
Galley, one of the 37 layouts and not one of the 21 marked ATS-safe. For a practice that will read the page as a designed object it is a reasonable trade, and the section below explains when it is not.

Conxfolio is a free set of four career tools: a résumé builder with 37 rendered layouts, an ATS résumé checker that prints its own arithmetic, a cover letter builder that traces every proof paragraph back to the line it came from, and a portfolio builder with 20 authored designs. There is no account to create, nothing is held back for a paid plan, and no language model is used anywhere in the product, so the readers, the score and the letter are deterministic code you can check.
