A receptionist résumé example, with the desk written down

One complete receptionist résumé, written out in full. The person is invented. The reading and the score come from the product itself.

— visitors a day, diaries, calls. the desk is countable.

Reception is the job most often described in adjectives and most easily described in numbers. This example is written out in full so you can read the numbers version, then put through the tools here so you can see what a parser stores. The candidate is invented. Arabella Ndiaye-Coombes does not exist, neither employer exists, and every figure was chosen to demonstrate a shape.

The desk is countable

Sixty-four staff supported. Forty visitors a day. Nine partners' diaries across six meeting rooms. A hundred and twenty patient appointments a week across five clinicians. Sixty calls a day. Four thousand pounds a week taken in payments. None of those is a boast, and together they describe a desk precisely enough that an office manager knows whether their own desk is bigger or smaller.

The two sectors are doing work here as well. A dental practice and a law firm have different rhythms, and a candidate who has run both desks is telling a reader they can learn a third.

Two lines that are not about volume

Cutting courier spend by 18% by consolidating with two suppliers is a purchasing result from a reception desk, and it is the kind of thing that never reaches a résumé because it does not feel like reception work. Reducing missed appointments by 26% with a reminder routine is the same shape: a small change to a process, with the result measured.

Writing the front desk handbook and training four receptionists is the seniority line. Any desk that has been run well for three years has produced something like it, and most candidates leave it out.

What the reading found

The door on this page hands the example to the résumé builder as plain text, through the same import an uploaded file goes through, and the review shows every field beside the line it came from. Here the completeness pass found four readable sections, 100 words of experience evidence and ten distinct skills.

The Conxfolio import review after the door opened, showing Arabella Ndiaye-Coombes's example read into fields beside the rendered page, with the line saying it is an example
The real import review, opened by this page's own door. It names Arabella Ndiaye-Coombes as invented before anything is saved, and it shows every field beside the line it came from.

Nothing in that path uses a language model. The readers are deterministic functions over the lines of a section, every string they emit is checked to be a span of your document, and a field that fails that check is dropped and counted rather than invented.

What the checker scored it

The same import review on a 390 pixel phone screen, with the example notice above the accept button
The same door on a phone. Nothing is withheld on the small screen: the notice, the reading and the accept button are all there.

Ninety-seven out of 100, with one improvement remaining worth 8 points. The arithmetic is 100 × 30% + 100 × 30% + 92 × 40% = 97, explained in the article on the score. Seven action-led lines, five of them measurable, seven lines of depth and 183 readable words against a band opening at 250.

Five measurable lines out of seven is a high ratio and it is the reason this short page scores as well as much longer ones. Volume is the only gap, and a third role would close it. The ATS checker prints which lines it counted, so you can see the ratio on your own page.

What this example leaves off

No photograph, no line about being the face of the company, and no list of personal qualities. A front desk is judged on the numbers above and on how the application itself is written, which is the real work sample.

Individual visitor stories and named clients are left off as well. A law firm's receptionist knows who came through the door, and a page that mentions any of it has already failed the confidentiality test that the job depends on.

What to change for your own

Change the setting. A hotel, a school, a gym, a car dealership and a hospital ward clerk's desk all use this shape with different nouns. Then count your own desk: staff, visitors, calls, rooms, appointments, deliveries, payments.

Get the header right, because on this job it is read as a work sample; the guide on the header covers what belongs there. The design gallery holds 37 layouts, and the customer service example, the HR manager example and the electrician example show the same structure elsewhere.

Questions

Is Arabella Ndiaye-Coombes a real person
No. She is invented for this page, and so are Halverd and Pryce Solicitors and Brightmere Dental Care. Every figure shows a shape and describes nobody.
How do I make front desk work sound substantial
Count it. Staff supported, visitors a day, diaries managed, calls taken, payments handled. A desk that looks unremarkable from the inside is a large operation written down.
Should I name the software
Yes, and the specific one. Outlook, a practice management system, a visitor management system and a switchboard are all filter terms, and naming the exact product you used is more convincing than writing computer literate.
What did the checker score it
97 out of 100, with one improvement remaining worth 8 points. The document has 183 readable words and the volume rule's top band opens at 250, which is a long page for two reception roles.
Is confidentiality worth listing
In a clinic or a law firm it is part of the job rather than a nice quality, so it belongs in the skills row where the posting will look for it, and in nothing more than one word.
Which design is this rendered in
Coverline, one of the 21 ATS-safe layouts out of 37. It gives the contact row a clear band at the top, which suits a job where the contact details are part of the audition.

Conxfolio is a free set of four career tools: a résumé builder with 37 rendered layouts, an ATS résumé checker that prints its own arithmetic, a cover letter builder that traces every proof paragraph back to the line it came from, and a portfolio builder with 20 authored designs. There is no account to create, nothing is held back for a paid plan, and no language model is used anywhere in the product, so the readers, the score and the letter are deterministic code you can check.
